The primary objective of a climb audit is to satisfy the requirements of the tower
owner to verify the existing loading condition, for purposes of a tower analysis, and
antenna loading installation by either the tower owner or another carrier (co-locator).
- The existing loading on the tower consists of the antennas, antenna mounts (single mounts,
pinwheels), ice-guards, transmission lines and any other ancillary installed on the tower.
The audit records need to indicate the elevation, location, quantities and description of all
these ancillaries.
- A secondary objective of the climb audit is to verify the space availability to install the
proposed new loading (new mounts, antennas, transmission lines, etc) as required by the
current project.
- Additional objectives might be required by specific projects. Typically, a new co-locator
will require also to install new ground equipment and services (e.g. shelter/hydro power)
that needs to be recorded on site.
